BREAKING NEWS: Arrest Made in the Barnesville Bomb Threat Hoax

BARNESVILLE - The City of Barnesville Police Criminal Investigation Division, Lamar County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, Milner Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation worked diligently to gather information in the recent bomb threats that occurred on May 15, 2016.

On May 16, 2016, after an extensive review of phone records, a person of interest was discovered. The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office made contact with Lagarious World at his Johnsonville Road residence. While at the residence, Sheriff Deputies and Investigators found several marijuana plants being grown by Mr. World.

Mr. World was transported to the Barnesville Police Department for further investigation. After interviewing Mr. World, warrants are pending for 7 counts of False Public Alarm for the City of Barnesville and 1 count of False Public Alarm for the City of Milner.

Lamar County Sheriff's Office will also be seeking warrants for possession of marijuana/manufacturing. Chief Keadle would like to personally thank Sheriff Brad White and his Deputies, Chief Jake Sutton, City of Barnesville Fire Department, Lamar County Fire and Rescue, the Georgia Bureau of Investigations, Gordon State Police Department, Bibb County Sheriff Department K9 Bomb Squad, and the Officers for the City of Barnesville for all of their hard work.

Bomb Threats Shut Down Several Barnesville Businesses Last Night

BARNESVILLE - The City of Barnesville Police Department received seven separate 911 calls during the evening of May 15, 2016 through the Lamar County 911 Center. The calls were in reference to a bomb threat at the following locations: Roses Store 904 Veterans Parkway, Family Dollar 329 College Drive, CVS 622 Rose Avenue, McDonald’s 200 Forsyth Street, Hot Shot Gas Station 202 Veterans Parkway, and Pizza Hut 219 Forsyth Street.

The incident locations were evacuated and safe distance was obtained for safety. The Barnesville Police Department was assisted by the Barnesville Fire Department, Lamar County Fire & Rescue, Gordon State College Police, Lamar County Sherriff’s Office, and the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Explosive Ordnance Disposal K-9 Unit.

The locations were cleared of any explosive devices, and turned back over to the mangers. The Police Department is also working with Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The incidents are still under investigations at this time.
