Upson EMC and Gas South donate blankets to Salvation Army shelter

ATLANTA - The Upson Electric Membership Corporation and Gas South teamed up to donate blankets to the Salvation Army shelter in Atlanta.

On Thursday, Gas South delivered about 100 blankets collected by Upson EMC members and employees to the Red Shield Salvation Army Homeless Shelter. This was the second blanket delivery to the shelter. Last week, Gas South delivered about 75 blankets, donated by the natural gas provider.

The blanket donation is part of Gas South’s launch of Project SHARE, which allows customers to donate money on their monthly natural gas bills to needy families throughout Georgia. The Project SHARE donations help with food, shelter, clothing, medical supplies and utility bills. For every customer contribution to Project SHARE, Gas South will match each donation up to $5.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to give back to the communities that we serve by partnering with the Salvation Army,” Gas South President and CEO Kevin Greiner said.

Gas South partners with Upson EMC to provide discounted natural gas rates to Upson EMC’s members. Through the partnership, one of 17 alliances Gas South has with local EMCs and governments, Gas South returns a portion of its rates collected from new customers back to the EMC.

“We are committed to giving back to those in need,” Upson EMC President and CEO Neal Trice said. “We are proud to partner with Gas South to help provide our members savings on their natural gas bills, as well as opportunities to support our community.”
