The PCHS Lady Pirates held a youth basketball camp the week of June 6th at Pike County Middle School. Over thirty young ladies worked with the high school and middle schools coaches, along with the varisty and JV players, to learn fundamental basketball skills, fun drills, competitions, and play in exciting scrimmages.
On a lighter note, each team made up a skit which they performed at the closing ceremonies on Thursday. Our camp motto is “Building a Foundation on Fun and Fundamentals,” said Coach Helen Akins, “and each team’s skit had to include the motto.”
Most Intense Lady Pirate was also awarded at the closing ceremonies. Hobby Gregory received the honor along with certificates for winning contests in her age group for free throws, hot shot, and layouts. Hobby will be entering the 7th grade at Pike County Middle School.
