Pike Wins Scrimmage Game

ZEBULON - Pike County played Starrs Mill this week. Pike won, 4-1. Tristin English pitched two innings. He struck out 5, issued one walk and no hits. Bill Clark pitched two innings. He struck out 0, walked 3, and gave up 1 hit. Trey Darsey pitched two innings. He struck out three, issued one walk and gave up one hit. He also gave up one unearned run. He got the win as well. C.J. Ballard closed the game in the 7th. He struck out two, issued one walk and gave up one hit.

The Pirates had three hits and they all came in the fifth inning as George Boyd and Kole Adams doubled and C.J. Ballard had a triple. Adams had the big hit has he banged a high fast ball off the left center wall fence with a 3-2 count and two outs to drive in two runs.

It was a good scrimmage game for the Pirates. Good pitching and timely hitting got them the win. Defense struggled a bit, but this was the first game and extremely cold.

The Pirates will host Luella on Tuesday (weather permitting) at 5:55 p.m. Always a good close game with the Luella Lions. Come out and support the "Boys of Winter"!
