2017 Back To School Bash to Be Held on Saturday
Medical Take Back and Sharps Disposal Will Be Held Too

ZEBULON - The Pike County Health Department is hosting this year's Back to School Bash on August 12, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 541 Griffin Street in Zebulon next to the Sheriff's Office.

Mike Powell of The Pike Community Resource Network, which has worked with various entities over the past several years to provide this event, told me by phone today that The Pike County Health Department has agreed to hold this event. "That's exciting to me!" he said.

There will be free backpacks and school supplies for pre-K through high school students. There will also be free food, drinks, door prizes, and games!

Hearing, vision, and dental screenings will be available as well as school required immunizations. (Most insurance plans accepted.)

The event is free and the community is free to come out and be a part of the fun!

Medical Take Back and Sharps Disposal

There will also be a Medical Take Back and Sharps Disposal from 10 am to 2 pm at the Heath Department. This event is sponsored by the WellStar Community, District 4 Public Health, the Pike County Sheriff's Office and the Pike County Family Connection-A Community Resource Network.

Please pack your medications separate from your sharp items (needles and lancets). Appropriate closed containers for sharps are plastic bottles, milk jugs, or plastic needle disposal/boxes. PLEASE NOTE: No loose needles or sharps will be accepted.

You may turn in your unused or expired medications for safe disposal. No registration is required. No questions will be asked. No forms or ID required. Call 678-408-3158 for more questions about this event.
