ZEBULON - The Pike County Sheriff's Office recognized two of our deputies for their actions while responding to a call for a person that suffered from an overdose in April.
Upon arrival, Deputies Austin Jones and Casey Hammond quickly evaluated that the individual needed immediate medical treatment due to an opioid overdose. The victim was unresponsive and unconscious with shallow vital signs.
The deputies administered two rounds of Narcan and were able to stabilize the person for further medical treatment.
Deputies at the Pike County Sheriff's Office completed specialized training in the use of Narcan during the past couple of months for incidents like this.
Both Deputies received life saving awards for their actions during this incident.
