Reckless Driver Arrested on Hwy. 18 Today

ZEBULON - Zebulon Police and Pike County Sheriff's Deputies joined forces today to capture a wanted fugitive during a vehicle pursuit today. 911 operators received numerous calls of a reckless driver on Highway 19 traveling southbound. Zebulon Police were able to locate the vehicle at the city limits and attempted to initiate a traffic stop at which time the driver refused to stop.

Deputies joined in the pursuit during which time the vehicle became increasingly dangerous to other vehicles on the road as it traveled on the wrong side of the roadway with complete disregard for the safety of others. A determination was made by the pursuing units to forcibly stop the suspect before anyone could be hurt by the suspect. After being stopped by a PIT manuver the suspect resisted both police and deputies efforts to be placed under arrest. The suspect was taken into custody at the scene and transported to Spalding Regional Hospital for minor injuries.

The vehicle driven by the suspect was determined to have been stolen from Spalding County. In addition the suspect, Ronald Miller Jr. 33 years of age, has warrants for his arrest from Spalding and Clayton counties. Counterfeit money was located in the vehicle and Miller was also believed to be under the influence of drugs at the time of his arrest.

Miller faces numerous charges from both Zebulon Police and the Sheriff's Office. Among the charges are Felony fleeing and eluding, Forgery, Driving under the influence of drugs, reckless driving and various traffic offenses. He will be housed at the Pike County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
