J. Joel Edwards Library Holds Annual Seussabration

ZEBULON - The annual Seussabration was held at the J. Joel Edwards Public Library on Sat., March 4. Now in its fifth season, the library’s Seussabration has become a favorite event of many in the community. This year library manager and avid Seussaholic Rosemary Bunn welcomed to the stage a plethora of “local celebrities” who happily regaled the audience with lively renditions of their own favorite picture books.

One educational superintendent, two teachers, a board member, an event planner, and a local artist all enthusiastically demonstrated Dr. Seuss’s own belief that “You’re never too old, too wacky, too wild to pick up a book and read to a child.”

Following the story presentations, the children were invited to make their own wockets for their pockets, create a crate to contain those unruly Things, get a special Cat in the Hat tattoo, and receive some special Seussian gifts. Beverly Bennett helped with the crate craft, Jane Busby gave out the free gifts, and Bobby Bunn was the expert tattoo artist.

Door prize winners are Ricky Shagnon (7), Reece Marker (11), Gracie_Rae Hagin (who turned 10 on March 2, the same day Dr. Seuss turned 113) – She was the winner of the Grand Prize book and plush, Marvin K. Mooney, Will You Please Go Now, Savannah Kendrick (8 mo.) and Emma-Leigh Hagin (7).
