Pike County Fire Department Update - January 2026

ZEBULON - The Pike County Fire Department is made up of a mix of paid and volunteer firefighters. Fire Department personnel responded to brush fires, house fires, an industrial accident, and a motor vehicle accident so far this month.

January 1, 2026. 1354 Smyrna Church Road, Molena. 12:19 p.m.

Pike County Fire Department personnel responded to the above address for an out of control brush fire. Firefighters began an initial attack as well as protected the nearby residence. Additional personnel worked to control the fire. Forestry responded with two dozers and a Forestry Ranger, followed by a fly over. An estimated 42 acres burned rapidly spread due to high winds.

At the corner of 1602 Smryna Church Road and the power line right of way, residents attempted to keep fire from spreading from a burning stack of railroad ties by carrying buckets of water from a fish pond. Georgia Power was notified of possible damage to utilities on the power line right of way.

January 1, 2026. 616 Shackelford Road, Griffin. 11:22 a.m.

Pike County Fire Department personnel responded to the above location for a reported brush fire. The homeowner was burning vegetation debris in a fire pit behind the residence when it extended to the grass nearby and got out of their control. The weather conditions were light winds and dry air which contributed to the incident.

January 12, 2026. 576 Hill Street, Concord. 8:25 p.m.

Pike County Fire Department personnel responded to the above location for a reported structure fire. The trailer was fully involved upon arrival. Fire personnel extinguished flames. The fire left the structure uninhabitable. A possible cause given by the resident was a defective power cord in his bedroom.

January 12, 2026. 143 Etheridge Mill Road, Griffin. 10:15 p.m.

Pike County Fire Department personnel responded to the above location for a report of a crane fallen on a person. Personnel assisted with patient care. Patient was airlifted to a trauma center.

January 14, 2026. 205 Alabama Road, Meansville. 1:29 a.m.

Pike County Fire Department personnel responded to a reported structure fire. The caller advised dispatch the attic of the house was on fire. Upon arrival, fire was showing from the attic. Upson and Lamar counties responded mutual aid with personnel, tankers, and engines. The home was a total loss.

January 19, 2026. Roberts Quarters Road, Concord. 12:53 p.m.

Pike County Fire Department personnel responded to a report of vehicle in a body of water and occupant still inside the vehicle. Upon arrival personnel found vehicle had left the roadway and ended up in the creek. The patient, still inside the vehicle, was extricated and air lifted to a trauma hospital.
