ZEBULON - During winter break, our hog team finished off their show season at the Georgia National Junior Livestock show in Perry, GA. FFA and 4H members from all over the state came to compete in Showman and Market Classes with their hog projects that they have been working with since early fall.

There were over 600 students registered and almost 2,000 hogs at this show.

We had 6 students leave the show with a top ten ribbon for their market class. In these classes, there were a total of 21 hogs in the ring! These students are Annikah Self, Kali Garner, Savannah Selman, Gracelyn Mosely, Anslee McLendon, and Kirsten Lutke!

Kirsten's hog won 3rd in her market class and was wanted back by her breeder to produce more prize-winning hogs for future students! We hope to have one of her piglets back on our team next year!

We are so proud of our students this year and can't wait to see how they do next season!

If you have any students who seem interested in showing next year, please have them find an ag teacher. We have Mrs. Hannah Smith at the Middle School, Mrs. Baade at the NGA and Mrs. Bartlett at the High School. There are also 4H options for our younger or homeschooled students with our local extension office.
