Georgia DOT Awards Contracts for Four Projects in West Central Georgia
Including Resurfacing on Georgia 109 in Pike/Lamar Counties

THOMASTON - The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced it awarded contracts for four project in District 3 (West Central Georgia region). The project bids were received on October 18 and the contracts awarded to the lowest qualified bidders on November 1, 2019.

The projects are:

• Bibb, Macon and Peach Counties: the project involves railroad signing and pavement marking upgrades at various locations. The contract was awarded to Peek Pavement Marking, LLC of Columbus, Georgia for $189,000. The project is expected to be completed by the end of summer 2020.
• Sumter, Macon, Dougherty and Lee Counties: the project involves railroad signing and pavement marking upgrades at various locations. The contract was awarded to Peek Pavement Marking, LLC of Columbus, Georgia for $262,000. The project is expected to be completed by the end of summer 2020.
• Macon County: the project involves the construction of a bridge and approaches on Stagecoach Road (County Road 15) over Camp Creek. The contract was awarded to Southern Concrete Construction Co., Inc. of Albany, Georgia for $1.25 million. The project is expected to be completed by the end of autumn 2020.
• Lamar and Pike Counties: the project involves the resurfacing of 6.575 miles of Georgia 109 from US 19/Georgia 3 to Georgia 18/Georgia 109. The contract was awarded to C. W. Matthews Contracting Company of Marietta, Georgia for $1.59 million. The project is expected to be completed by the end of summer 2020.

The projects were four of 20 awarded statewide on November 1, with the contracted amount for all 20 projects totaling $31,204,503.

Information on schedules, lane closures and detours will be made available in advance of construction activities.
