ZEBULON - Please consider being a CASA volunteer! Our next training starts January 9, 2019. CASAs are Court Appointed Special Advocates for children in foster care. There are over 250 children in foster care just in our circuit! Here are some answers to FAQ:
*A CASA is a neutral party who is assigned to the child/children in care and they visit with them once a month, talk on the phone with parties such as Foster Parents, Doctors, Schools/Therapist, etc. and make recommendations about their case to the Judge.
*Yes, you can work it with a full time job! You set your visiting/phone call hours and court dates are usually only 6 months apart after the initial ones. We can even supply subpoenas if needed for court.
*Yes, you can work in any circuit you want, but ours is best (just sayin' lol).
*Training is one evening a week, for 8 weeks and then you're sworn in as a mandated court reporter (that's a big deal!).
* Yes, it is one of the most rewarding decisions ever to make a difference in a child's life!!
