ZEBULON - After a year-long process of collaboration with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), we are excited to announce that paving work will finally begin on the entrance to the Ninth Grade Academy (NGA) and the Pike County Schools District Office at Highway 19.
This long-anticipated project, which will create a wider entrance with two lanes for safer entry and exit, marks a significant improvement for our campus. The new design will ease congestion, improve traffic flow, and increase safety for families and staff accessing the facilities from the highway.
We recognize that the timing of this project—coinciding with the start of school—is far from ideal. Heavy traffic and the natural stress of the first week of school may be compounded by construction activity. We ask for your patience and understanding during this time.
This project has faced delays due to multiple factors, including GDOT permitting, weather-related setbacks, and necessary stormwater runoff studies. Now that we have the green light, we are moving forward quickly to complete the work as efficiently as possible.
Even the best-laid plans can face unexpected barriers, and this one certainly has—but the result will be worth the wait. We are committed to doing what is best for our students, staff, and families, and this improved entrance is an important step toward safer, smoother, daily operations.
A video and infographic will be posted with the alternate traffic pattern during this time. Please allow extra time for drop-off and pickup and follow all posted signage and guidance from staff on site.
Thank you for your continued support and flexibility as we work to build a better Pike County Schools for everyone.
