The Pike County School System will be going to distance learning for the Middle School, the Ninth Grade Academy, Pike County Alternative Program (PCAP), Zebulon High, and Pike County High School starting Monday on Monday, August 30.
A note sent home with students advised that cases of COVID-19 and quarantine requirements for students and staff have made it difficult to continue in person learning for grades 6-12 due to a large number of students and staff abiding by quarantine requirements. It has also been a challenge to cover the bus routes.
Tomorrow (Friday, August 27) will be an important day for these students. Teachers will discuss their expectations for the upcoming week and give out assignments. There are multiple ways for students to receive their assignments.
Assignments can be received by email, through the school’s learning management system, or by picking up these assignments in person. There is also a text-based system that allows teachers to send assignments and attachments through text messages.
The note that went home with students advised that student who are involved in athletics and other after school extra curriculars will receive information from their coaches and directors regarding plans for next week.
These schools will reopen for in-person learning on Tuesday, September 7.
PLEASE NOTE: Pre-K, Primary, and Elementary schools will remain open for in-person learning.
“We know that the last couple of weeks have been frustrating for our staff, students, and community. Our hope is that next week gives everyone a chance to get healthy and allow quarantines to expire so that we are all ready for a fresh start on September 7. Tomorrow is business as usual.”
