BREAKING NEWS: Pike County Manager Candidates Both Withdraw Their Applications
By Editor Becky Watts

ZEBULON - The Pike County Commission is going back to the drawing board when it comes to County Manager candidates. Interim County Manager Rob Morton advised by phone that both candidates have withdrawn their applications here in Pike County.

Last week, Jim Hedges from Ashburn, Georgia advised Pike County that he was withdrawing his application for County Manager in order to become County Manager in a neighboring county. According to the Monroe County Reporter, Hedges is one of three finalists for the position of County Manager in Monroe County.

I was advised today that Michelle Irizarry from Auburn, Georgia has also withdrawn her application in order to accept an assistant position at another county. [Note from the Editor: I will report more on this tomorrow when I can contact the county in which this position is being offered and confirm this information on the record.]

The Pike County Commission will meet again on Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the Courthouse and discuss where to go from here.
