Centerfield Sports and Fitness held a baseball camp on January 5, 2008. About 50 kids ages 8 to 15 attended this camp and had a great time while learning the basics of baseball. The coaches were great as they worked with the kids. Keeping the kids' attention and encouraging them to keep trying until they got it was pretty cool. And the excitement when the kids got it was fun to watch.

If you thought baseball was just about throwing, hitting, and catching a ball, you will learn like I did that there is a lot more to the game!

Carl Kearney, formerly of the Washington Redskins and New York Jets is teaching the kids speed and agility.

Carson kept these boys running and diving to catch the ball.

Travis Lee taught these boys about catching down at home plate on the field.

These are pictures from the Winter Baseball Camp held in December of 2007 at Centerfield Sports and Fitness. The boys had a great time learning the basics of baseball from stance to throwing to catching and everything in between. Parents stood around and watched or passed the time in other ways like playing football.

This was a family event and a good thing for Pike County because people driving through Pike County stopped at gas stations and saw a good learning experience for their kids here in Pike County. There was plenty of parking too.

Like the football picture above, this was a family affair with Moms and Dads coming out to watch their kids learn something that they enjoy.
